Judy,
I just wanted to tell you about our first thunderstorm since Pete got his Thundershirt.  We were watching TV last night when the rain started. Pete was a little nervous but there was no lightning and thunder at first so I didn't think about the Thundershirt. After a few minutes the lightning started and Pete began pacing, looking for a place to hide.

I quickly gave him two of the Composure treats and put on his Thundershirt. I talked to him in a soft comforting voice and stroked his ears like you showed me. It took about 10 minutes for him to calm down and he went over and laid down on the couch.

He wasn't calm enough to sleep and every time there was a clap of thunder he would look over at me. I would tell him everything was alright and that seemed to be enough. He watched TV with me for another hour or so.

I left the Thundershirt on him when we went to bed because it was still raining and there was still the occasional thunder clap. He fell asleep in his bed and didn't disturb me until I woke this morning.

It wasn't raining when we got up so I took his Thundershirt off. We went about our normal morning routine without drama. We went out for his morning walk and it started raining again. By the time we got inside it was coming down pretty good and the thunder had returned. Pete started pacing and I asked him if he wanted his Thundershirt and showed it to him. He came over and sat at my feet and I put the shirt on him.

This time he calmed down almost immediately without the Composure treats. It rained for a couple of hours with intermittent lightning and thunder but Pete was fine. After the rain stopped we went outside again to allow him to finish his business that the rain had interrupted.

I am truly impressed at how well the Thundershirt worked. I have always enjoyed a good thunderstorm and now Pete and I can enjoy them together.

Thanks,
Cris
